AddressLab
Data Methodology and Editorial Standards
How AddressLab creates, reviews, sources, and updates synthetic address test data.
Last updated: July 12, 2026
Purpose
AddressLab creates synthetic address-shaped records for software development, QA, form validation, prototypes, demos, and seed data. Records are not identities and are not verified delivery destinations.
How records are assembled
Each record combines a generated name, phone-format sample, street-format sample, city, region, postal-code style value, country label, and formatted full-address line. City, region, and postal-code examples are maintained as structured test fixtures; street numbers and personal fields are randomized.
Format review
Country pages are reviewed against publicly available postal and addressing guidance. Primary references include USPS Publication 28, Royal Mail addressing guidance, Canada Post addressing guidelines, Japan Post postal-code guidance, and the Universal Postal Union addressing systems resource.
What accuracy means here
AddressLab tests structure and presentation, not deliverability. A city and postal code may follow a real public format while the combined street and identity remain synthetic. The tool must not be used for shipping, identity verification, tax eligibility, or account ownership claims.
Editorial standards
Guides are written for a specific QA task, reviewed for consistency with the live product, and updated when supported fields or workflows change. We avoid publishing copied articles, unverifiable delivery claims, and instructions for bypassing platform controls.
Corrections
Address formats change and test fixtures can contain mistakes. Report a correction with the country, field, expected format, and an authoritative source to support@addresslab.net. Material corrections are reflected in the page's update date.
